What we collect
- Location. While you use the app, your GPS position is used to find truck-friendly parking, fuel, repair shops and routes near you.
- Voice. When you tap the copilot or say the wake word, TruckBuddy records what you say and sends it to our server to understand your request. Wake-word detection runs on your phone (Picovoice); audio leaves your phone only after the wake word or a tap.
- Truck profile and preferences. Height, trailer length, weight, hazmat, your first name and route preferences you enter. These are stored on your phone and sent with each request so routes fit your truck.
- Conversation history. Recent things you said and the copilot’s replies are stored on our server, linked to a random ID issued when you enter your access code, so the copilot can remember context. You can clear it in the app (Conversation memory → Clear memory).
We do not collect your contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
Who we share it with
We share data only with services that process your request:
- OpenAI receives your voice recordings and transcripts to transcribe speech, understand requests and generate spoken replies. Satellite images of a destination may be sent to OpenAI to check truck parking.
- HERE, OpenRouteService, Google Maps Platform and OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) receive locations and truck dimensions to search places, geocode addresses and plan truck routes.
These providers process data under their own terms and are not allowed by them to use API data for advertising. We do not sell your data.
How long we keep it
- Voice audio is processed and not kept after the reply is generated (generated reply audio is cached briefly).
- Conversation history is kept until you clear it.
Your choices
- You can deny location or microphone access in your phone’s settings.
- You can turn off hands-free (wake word) in the app.
- To delete your conversation history, use Clear memory on the Conversation memory screen, or email us.
Children
TruckBuddy is meant for professional drivers and is not directed at children under 13.
